EXPERIENCE:

AUG '97 to Present - CINCINNATI VETERANS AFFAIRS MEDICAL CENTER - I was originally hired to be the Research Nurse to Dr. Thomas Geracioti, Chief of Psychiatry, for 20 hours a week. After completion of my first year, Dr. Dewleen Baker, Director of the PTSD Program, hired me for another 20 hours a week as her Research Nurse. My duties include educating Veterans about human subject research, recruiting volunteers to participate, providing direct bedside care to those who do participate, arranging for after-care and follow-up, designing the data base for record keeping of all statistical data generated, and representing the facility, the care line, and the research division to various committees and agencies both inside and outside the medical center.

AUG '96 to AUG '98 - AMERICAN RED CROSS - Workplace Safety Instructor. Traveled around the tri-state area providing Standard First Aid & Safety, Community First Aid, all levels of CPR, Blood Borne Disease Transmission, & HIV - AIDS classes for all age groups and all professions.

AUG '95 to Aug '98 - CENTER FOR CHEMICAL ADDICTIONS TREATMENT - Staff Nurse in a community based drug & alcohol rehabilitation program. Responsible for screening Intake phone calls, doing physical assessments on all new admissions to determine their drug withdrawal status, for administering medications, for monitoring their progress through the detoxification period; responsible for health education, substance abuse counseling and making referrals to community agencies as appropriate; also responsible to monitor the health of the patients in the short-term (30 day) residential rehabilitation program. As the only R.N. on duty I was also responsible for supervising the Patient Aides who were on duty on my shift.

MAY '88 to JAN '95 - CORRECTIONAL MEDICAL SYSTEMS, INC. - HEALTH SERVICE ADMINISTRATOR HAMILTON COUNTY JUSTICE CENTER - Managed and controlled an accredited, multi-location, $2.2M, award-winning health care operation in a 2000 bed corrections facility.

MARCH '87 to MAY '88 - CORRECTIONAL MEDICAL SYSTEMS, INC. - DIRECTOR OF NURSING, HAMILTON COUNTY JUSTICE CENTER - Responsible for management of all inpatient and outpatient clinical nursing functions in an ambulatory care, short-term facility, with three satellites, operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with 50 FTEs.

JULY '85 to MARCH '87 - SZABO HEALTH SERVICES - and CORRECTIONAL MEDICAL SYSTEMS, INC. - Nursing Supervisor, Hamilton County Justice Center - Direct supervision of all nursing personnel in the performance of their duties and coordination of all personnel related activities such as interviewing, evaluating, scheduling, daily assignments, and problem-solving. Also responsible for inventory control.

JUNE '78 to JULY '85 HAMILTON COUNTY (1981-85) - and CITY OF CINCINNATI (1978-81), Nursing Supervisor, Community Correctional Institution - Researched, designed, implemented and coordinated an inmate health service program that improved the quality and efficiency of care resulting in the first AMA (NCCHC) accredited program in Cincinnati and Hamilton County. Was included in all phases of the program development and was held totally responsible for health services administration.

JUNE '75 to JULY '78 CITY OF CINCINNATI - COMMUNITY CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION - Public Health Nurse - As the only full-time health care professional, was hired to design a medical-legal health care program. Was directly responsible for health care of 35 adult female offenders as well as being Administrative Assistant to the Chief of Corrections.

JUNE '72 to MARCH '75 AUDIE MURPHY VA HOSPITAL NURSE PRACTITIONER - One of five Nurse Practitioners in Ambulatory Care who worked in the Walk-In Clinic under the direct preceptorship of the Senior Medical Resident doing physical assessments and designing treatment plans. Received two Congressional Commendations for my work in this area.

AUG '71 to SEPT '72 - BROOKLYN VA HOSPITAL (8/71-7/72) and CINCINNATI VA HOSPITAL (7/72 - 9/72) STAFF NURSE - Worked in the Drug Rehabilitation Unit and Methadone Maintenance Clinic. Transferred to CVAH to design and open similar program authorized by SAODAP.

SEPT '63 to MARCH '67 JEWISH HOSPITAL, OBSTETRIC STAFF NURSE - Worked in Post Partum, Labor & Delivery, and Nursery.

APR '67 to MAR '00 - UNITED STATES ARMY, ARMY NURSE CORPS OFFICER - Active duty for 3 ½ years with assignments that included OB staff nurse at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital to Nursing Supervisor in Vietnam. Reserve duty assignments included S-3 (Plans, Operating, & Training Officer), Mobilization Officer, Detachment Commander, Detachment Chief Nurse, and AIDS Education Officer for the 83rd ARCOM. Retired with rank of COLONEL.
