The Arts

The arts invariably improve both the quality of life and the economic health of a community.

The city has a long and rich history of fine and performing arts. I would like to see the city further encourage these arts through the creation of an "arts incubator." Just as the small business incubators provide the know-how and encouragement to get small business going, so could this arts incubator, working alongside private arts organizations, get new artists, musicians, poets, writers, etc. the push they need to go on to illustrious careers in the arts. This could be done in conjunction with the creation of an arts district. The arts don't make our lives more efficient, but they make them infinitely more livable.
