Public Safety Concerns

By Cassandra N. Brown

Candidate for Council Member; City of Norwood; Ward 5

This information is provided by the candidate
I feel public safety is an issue that needs to be addressed. I feel we need to insure our safety departments are adequately staffed, and that includes our fire, police and building departments. We also need to provide adequate functional equipment for these departments. We need to insure that, for example, our police officers are provided with the proper equipment to reduce speeding on our Ward 5 streets. For the fire department, possibly a second firehouse. We need to stay vigilant to ensure their safety equipment stays in good working order, as well as obtaining new technology for them. We need to work to make the building dept. more user-friendly while strengthening our ability to rectify problems with absentee landlords. Our Health dept needs our help with adequate funding, through grants and other methods, to increase their staff and provide more and better services.
