1. How would you implement your top priority?

Answer from Kathy Thinnes:

The most important function of a school board member is to hire a qualified superintendent to lead the school district. Having been on the board for four years, I have learned that the new superintendent should be innovative in ways to address student achievement, safety, finances and communication. It is important that the superintendent be visible and accessible to community members regardless of their involvement in the school district. I intend to direct these issues to anyone applying for the superintendent position.

Answer from Timothy L. Centers:

First, compare the existing Master Plan projections with historical data. Second, generate a census of students in each grade and classroom. Finally, complete the pending facilites assesment report. After these three tasks are completed, update the Master Plan if required and then finalize decisions relating to new construction or remodel/expansion of existing facilites. Included in the final decision is a complete economic analysis that will provide the voters in the district the best return on their investment.
