Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Jeff Kettering

Candidate for
Board Member; Turlock Joint Union High School District

SCHOOL SAFETY The safety of students and staff is the most important issue that a School Board member has to deal with. If the school setting is not a safe environment, learning will not occur at an acceptable rate. Violence on campus should not be tolerated. I have personally assisted High School Campus' add Probation Staff to their campus in order to provide an extra level of security. Students that cannot comply with rules of the school, and commit violent acts while on campus should not be allowed to continue their education in the manner they have been afforded.

QUALITY STAFF

Schools should have the ability to recruit and retain quality staff at all levels. This applies to classified staff, teachers, and administators. Quality staff will enrich the educational opportunities that children have while enrolled in the schools.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Schools must be afforded the money and staff in order to provide a wide variety of extra-curicular activities. Young people who are idle tend to become involved in negative activities. The school can become a place that children, as well as parents, should want to be at outside of school hours.
