Smart Voter Additional Endorsements for Henry Burtschi

Candidate for
Shall Henry Burtschi be recalled from the office of Director; Oakdale Irrigation District; Division 4

This information is provided by the candidate

If one attended the OID meetings, it is very apparent that OID Directors Burtschi, Price and Webb have made the right choices and the results are the proof.

OID has lowered taxes while accumulating approximately twelve (12) million dollars in reserves and has made major strides in repairs to our aging system.

The majority of the directors have taken political heat from a small group of people who represent less than one and one half (1 1/2) percent of all the irrigated acres in OID. Three directors have had the vision, strength and integrity to vote their conscience against the threat of recall. OID, financially broke six (6) years ago, sold up to 13% of the water to protect our water rights from scrutiny. This amount of water can easily be recovered by better control of the water that leaves our district.

The small group, which is vocal against the three (3) majority directors, has done nothing to reduce, reclaim, or propose reclamation projects. The directors who are in alliance with this group continue to use the same irrigation practices that were used 60 years ago. OID cannot continue allowing poor irrigation practices with no accountability to the balance of the State of California. This group is leading us down the dark tunnel that has no light. Water is too valuable to waste and this entire area of Northern California must unite and help each other before the voters of Southern California and the environmentalists claim every drop of our water as they have done in Klamath Basin. We must not fight amongst ourselves in Northern California or at OID.

The majority of the OID Board has proven results in the last six (6) years:

  • Abolished fees for City & County lots not receiving water
  • Adequate water for all OID members
  • Lower taxes
  • Twelve (12) million dollars in reserves
  • Paid for major capital improvements and rebuilding of OID
    infrastructure
  • Protection of our water rights from State and Federal scrutiny
  • Implemented conservation projects

These are issues the small group of opponents doesn't even comment on. They comment by publishing half-truths, misinformation, and taking words out of context. All the facts and truth are available at OID headquarters upon request.
