Henry Burtschi

  • Occupation: Retired business owner and cattle rancher.
  • 50 Year Oakdale resident on same irrigated ranch.
  • 51 Years married to my Wife Lena, raised 4 children all residing and working in Oakdale Area
  • Graduated from Business college 1948 in Switzerland.
  • Established successful local Burtschi Transport Inc. and Burtschi Bros.Wholesale Hay Inc. in business 48 years. .
  • Served 6 years on OID Board and Tri-Dam Project, concentrating on finances and system improvements , including 2 Years as its President,
  • 50 years hands on irrigation. knowledge of state wide water demands and delivery practices uncluding 12 years of active snow surveying.
Priorities:
  • Keep improving the financial soundness of OID, with costcutting system improvements to conserve water and develop a secure workplace for employee's,
  • Timely water deliveries to all constituents, big or small at the lowest cost possible.
  • Protect our water rights with skillful negotiations with other agencies (Cal-Fed, EPA, ESA, Fish ) to minimize the effects from their water demands.
