DETAILS:

I have been a coastside resident since 1973. I built my own home in Moss Beach in 1982. I have been living in the Point Montara Fire Protection District for 21 years.

I was born in San Francisco and have lived in the San Francisco Bay area all my life except for military service.

I graduated from St. Matthew's Grammar School in San Mateo. I attended High School at St. Joseph's High School in Mt. View.

I obtained an A.A. Degree at the College of San Mateo in Mathematics in 1965.

I worked my way through High School and College by working at the Kelly Moore Paint Factory in San Carlos where I was a member of the Painters, Paperhangers, and Decorators Union of America.

I received my Bachelor's Degree at the University of California Berkeley in Physics/Psychology in 1967.

After that I served as an Officer in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Vietnam era where I specialized in fire safety programs and enforcement.

After military service, I attended Golden Gate University School of Law where I received a Doctorate in Law in 1974. I have practiced law in San Mateo County ever since.

In 1995 I served as Chairman of the Citizens' Committee for the Preservation of Pt. Montara Fire Protection District where I worked on the successful Measure H Campaign which saved our Fire Department from financial collapse by getting the approval of the voters in the November 1995 election to pay a parcel tax to offset the funds taken by the State of California from our budget to give to the schools.

After that I was appointed as Director of our Fire Department where I initiated an alliance with the Half Moon Bay Fire District which has vastly improved the level of emergency services our community receives, including paramedics on all of the fire engines.

Four years ago I went into semi-retirement from the law practice and entered the field of Computer Technology.

I became an Adjunct Professor in the Computer Science Department at the College of San Mateo where I am starting teaching my 5th year part-time in the evenings.

I worked for the Census Bureau as Local Census Office Automation Technician during the 2000 Census taking care of technology issues for the Census Bureau's San Mateo County Office.

Currently I am employed as Technology Coordinator for the Jefferson Elementary School District in San Mateo County.

I look forward to continuing the work I started as Director of our Fire Department.
