Will Moffitt is a graduate of Occidental College and the president of William Moffitt Associates, a full-service communications company in Pasadena, California, that he established in 1976.

An Emmy and Academy Award winning film-maker, Moffitt has been active in community and school activities since moving to La Canada Flintridge with his family in 1986.

"My extensive business experience has taught me the need for vision, accountability, due process, good data, and grequent and effective two-way communication. There are 4,300+ reasons I want to serve on La Canada's School Board - each and every child in La Canada's public schools," Moffitt said.

"I am looking forward to continuing to be an active part of our school district's governing board. Together we have begun the process of giving our students increased opportunities for learning, newer and safer school facilities, and technology to bring our teachers and students into the 21st century."

Moffitt is currently the only male and the only businessman on La Canada's Governing Board. Besides Moffitt's role as president, vice-president and clerk of the LCUSD Governing Board, he served two terms as president of the La Caņada Flintridge Educational Foundation, is the founder of the LCHS Alumni Association, has been a leader for eight years of the Community Prevention Council, served three terms as Nation Chief of the Crescenta-Canada YMCA Indian Guides and has been active in a variety of community groups and activities including AYSO Soccer, Gladiator Football, Cub and Boy Scouts, Y-Winners Basketball and La Canada Jr. Baseball and Softball.

When asked about his campaign, Moffitt replied, "I have made a conscious choice to run a clean, fair, and issues based campaign. I believe that hard work and a good record counts for a lot. Attacks on individuals sets a poor example for our kids, and is disrespectful of the Voter's intelligence."

"We have worked hard and have brought our district from deficit spending to a balanced budget with healthy reserves for the first time in years. Through great strides in curriculum development, we are now able to identify students at risk and come to their assistance with teaching methods tailored to their individual learning styles. With the help of community members, teachers, staff and students we have just received a six-year Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) accreditation, the highest possible, for La Caņada High School."

"We have worked to provide a vision and environment where students and teachers grow and succeed, as evidenced by test scores that have never been higher. But we have much more to do. I'd like to finish the job."

Will Moffitt and his wife, Lynne, have two children, Russell, a senior at Dartmouth College, and Harrison, a junior at La Caņada High School. They live in a 1905 La Caņada craftsman home with their collection of animals.

"Like many people, my family moved here for the schools. The fact that they are even better now is something of which we can all be proud."
