Candidate for Director; Bethel Island Municipal Improvement District

I will bring experience to the office of Director
I have been a delta boater since 1969, a property owner on Bethel Island since 1973, and bacame a perminent island resident in 1994 when I retired. My husband and I are booster members of the Bethel Island Chamber of Commerce. I have served on the Bethel Island Municipal Advisory Committee since 1997 and have served as Vice Chair, and was elected Chair in September 2001. I served on the Contra Costa County Juvenile Justice/Delinquency Prevention Commission from March 1994 until May 2000 serving as the Chair from 1996 to 1998. I look forward to working with the BIMIB board and staff to foster positive communication and the improvement of Bethel Island.

VISION

  • I wish to serve this community, which I have enjoyed for so many years.

  • Safety of our levees will be my top priority.

  • We must obtain more funds to support the ongoing work of the district, including basic infrastructure improvements. I have experience with grant writing and administration.

  • We must work with Federal, State and local agencies to recognize and finance the unique needs of Bethel Island. Specifically I will advocate for Bethel Island's fare share of money and services from Contra Costa County.

  • I have the time to understand the issues, and the determination and experience to make the tough decisions.
