San Ramon Civic Center

By Donna L. Dickey

Candidate for Member, City Council; City of San Ramon; Unexpired Short Term

This information is provided by the candidate
The Civic Center should comply with the 1998 Task Force Report and the residents request for a Performing Arts Theater, Children's Discovery Museum and new main Library.
We have two parcels of land, equaling almost 19 acres, affording us an opportunity to create a Civic Center that meets all the community's needs, including business. The challenge is to design, fund and build it!

The design should have a direct connection with our existing Central Park and the Iron Horse Trail. The priorities should be open space, and landscaping that encourages interaction. A pedestrian bridge should link the two parcels.

There are many funding alternatives that are yet to be explored. Residents' input will be invaluable in determining how we will proceed.

Building this project will take time. It's premature to anticipate a timeline without consenus.
