Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Manuel "Manny" Fernandez

Candidate for
Member, City Council; City of Union City

This information is provided by the candidate

I believe that improvement on the quality of life in our community could be achieved through sustained economic growth. Economic prosperity brings increased employment, additional city revenues and a general vitality to our community. That is why I am an advocate for the full development of Union Landing, the Pacific States Steel site and construction of the Intermodal Station. With new additional housing from affordable to upscale, the city will attract new businesses to the city.

The citizens of Union City demand a high rate of public safety characterized by a low crime rate and quick response times by Police and Fire Departments. I will continue to look for opportunities to increase the number of public safety personnel, upgrade equipment and take other steps to make sure we are prepared for any disaster.

I feel that we must increase and expand athletic sites within our community. We must begin the development of additional parks, soccer fields, a skateboard park and a sports complex with a continuous park. To enhance our city further, a full 18 hole golf course accessible to all residents should be built to benefit our youth, adults and seniors.
