A Vibrant Downtown Livermore

By Cathie Brown

Candidate for Mayor; City of Livermore

This information is provided by the candidate
Cathie supports the Livermore Valley Center project, which will bring new shops and restaurants, a public plaza, a 3-level parking structure, and a hotel and performing arts center to downtown Livermore. Under Cathie's leadership, and many years of working with citizens' groups to define the scope of the Livermore Valley Center project, the City recently sold $38 million in redevelopment bonds to begin work on this project.
"I am excited to see that our planning efforts for a vibrant downtown are paying off. We have worked hard to revitalize our downtown, and I look forward to seeing construction begin soon." I will continue to negotiate with Cal Trans to put First Street under City control. This will enable us to make First Street more pedestrian friendly."

We are also partnering with ValleyCare to build an assisted living facility for seniors at the other end of down. Valley Memorial Hospital will also be remodeled.

"During my tenure as Chairman of the ValleyCare Health System Board of Directors, I have worked closely with Mayor Cathie Brown to realize the Senior Housing Complex that will adjoin the expansion of the Valley Memorial Hospital complex. I appreciate Mayor Brown's continuing support of ValleyCare." Dr. David Mertes, Chairman of the Board, ValleyCare Health Systems.

"Cathie Brown's leadership is second to none. She is masterful in representing the interests of all segments of Livermore, with a constant view toward the future. She carefully weighs the impact of each and every decision relative to the community-at-large, and is unwilling to exchange thoughtful decision-making for special interests or single issues." Bob and Linda Maguire, Past Presidents Livermore Chamber of Commerce
