DEFERRED MAINTENANCE , SAFETY AND HEALTH HAZARDS

By Rick Richard

Candidate for Council member; City of San Diego

This information is provided by the candidate
Lets take care of our city before undertaking major projects
UTILITIES: For the past few years this city has been faced with one crisis after another concerning the underground utilities. Underground water and sewer lines have been bursting at a contineous pace keeping our city crews in a never ending emergency crisis situation. We have been faced with various sink holes that take days or weeks to repair. Broken water lines are causing heavy damage and flooding to Local businesses and homes. HEALTH: Sewer is causing pollution. The city should set up a priority system with approriated funds to begin replacing all these lines beginning in critical areas first, i.e. residential and business areas. SAFETY: Far to many accidents have occured at intersections whereby major or fatal injuries have occured. The City has to begin providing safer crossings . If the marked crosswork doesn't work, the we must install STOP SIGNS. Many intersetions will require SIGNAL LIGHTS because in certain areas, the drivers pay no attention to the crossworks and will even run the stop sign. Saving lives MUST BE A PRIORITY
