LAW ENFORCEMENT & SAFETY

By Joseph J. Gonzales

Candidate for Mayor; City of South El Monte

This information is provided by the candidate
We need to reinstate our Community Service Deputy to keep our neighborhoods safe.
This year's budget eliminates our Community Service Deputy. These are the officers who deal directly with our residents. The Community Service Deputy gives residents access to the Sheriff's Department in a personal way. The Community Service Deputy does the following:

-Organizes the Neighborhood Watch program that helps keep our residents and streets safe.

-Visits our school children in their schools to break down the barriers and misconceptions they may have about law enforcement. They organize Deputy Day which introduces our children to the officers and firemen that work in our city.

-Organizes the National Night Out that helps residents come out and meet their neighbors and law enforcement personel.

I will ask the City Council to reinstate this position in next year's budget.
