Politics should be community service, not service to the special interests. Politicians should be "people-persons" first, skilled in the art of listening, and possessive of a diverse background of knowledge and experience. Government is not the place to search for one's religious beliefs or the solutions to society's problems. Rather, it is the place to equip citizens with the tools needed to solve their own problems. |
