Improving Ohio's Grade on Public Education

By Jim Raussen

Candidate for State Representative; District 32

This information is provided by the candidate
Ohio is at a crossroads regarding public education. We need to take the control of education out of the hands of politicians and bureaucrats and put power back in the hands of parents and teachers. Local communities should decide what is best in educating their children, not people in Columbus. By allowing local school districts more authority to make decisions for their schools, you create more accountability for them to succeed. In addition, local control allows for more fiscal responsibility and less overhead spending. I also believe that we need to continue to press for higher standards in our schools and award districts based on performance.
