1. What specific measures do you support to increase equal access to health care in Ohio?

Answer from Jeannette Harrison:
I would support to increase equal access to health care in Ohio to allow individuals to buy into the State Medicare Program. Those individuals who meet the 200% of Federal Poverty. We have the Working poor and the retired individuals who are not eligible for Medicare, that are among the uninsured and the underinsured. We need to have a long term care program for low income and the Elderly.

Healthcare is an important issue for Ohio and the nation.
Here in Ohio, the legislature has been very concerned with
making sure that our children are receiving necessary care
for healthy lives. We have increased the eligibility levels
for families to enroll children in the Children's' Health
Insurance Program (CHW) program. Many eligible families are

2. What are your views on legislation to study racial profiling by law enforcement?

Answer from Jeannette Harrison:
I support legislation to study racial profiling by law enforcement, because it has not been proving to me that profiling technique is being fairly administered across all races. It appears to me to be a way to target African Americans
Answer from Patricia M. Clancy:
There has been much concern over racial profiling, denoted
as a practice of officers pulling over drivers because of
their ethnicity. This should not be tolerated, and I
support proactive steps to avoid profiling. I commend
actions taken by Lieutenant Governor O'Connor to raise
awareness of racial profiling and in assisting the Highway
Patrol in obtaining grant money to train and educate
officers. This is a positive step toward combating racial
profiling before it

3. What stable funding source do you support for the Ohio Housing Trust Fund?

Answer from Patricia M. Clancy:
The Ohio Housing Trust Fund provides assistance to low
income Ohioans for down payments, emergency repair, housing
development, etc. During its first four years, the fund
received $11 million in funding. In 1999, it received $20.5
million. Some of the sources I have supported include
interest from Ohio's rainy day fund and the Human Services
Stabilization Fund. I am also glad that Hamilton County has

The Ohio Housing Trust funding should be stabilized with Federal Funds (HUD), State funding from the operation and capital budgeting and partnerships with Banks and Businesses. Operating Budget funds be used to subsidizing rents for the Mentally ill, the Mentally retarded and the Disabled Individuals. The Capital Budget funds be appropriate for building new low income homes for the Disabled and the MRDD.
