"Atherton voters rebelled in the past year, after enduring mismanagement and poor leadership by city administrators and the City Council itself. They expressed their displeasure by refusing to approve two parcel taxes. In this atmosphere of disapproval and discontent, the city manager and fire chief resigned, and two council members decided not to seek reelection.

Now one of the rebels - Kathy McKeithen - is running for council, offering the same brashness and aggressiveness that guided her attacks on the council. This town could use a good dose of her vigor, which is why we support her council bid."
