As a member of the San Mateo County Board of Education, for four years, I feel that I am well qualified to insure that all present programs will continue, and that new and innovative ones will be established based on need and availability of funds. San Mateo County is experiencing demographic changes at a rapid pace. It will take experienced leadership to face the challenges and cope with the issues of the continually changing pluralistic student population. I will be able to provide that leadership through my participation in Board activities. Thirty nine years of experience as a teacher of regular and special education students at all levels and administrative experience in elementary and secondary schools has prepared me to make hard decisions and to understand finance, labor and management issues. My background as an educational lobbyist and a certified strategic planner will assist me in making difficult decisions the Board of Education will be faced with during these years of constant change and decreased educational funding. When elected, I will do all possible within the scope of the County Board of Education's ability to provide the students and community with the best possible educational experiences and opportunities.
