My Candidate's Statement from the Sample Ballot

By Bill Tyson

Candidate for Councilmember; City of San Luis Obispo

This information is provided by the candidate
I have worked in marketing, advertising and communications for more than forty years prior to retiring in 1999. Currently, the State of California employs me as a Tour Guide at Hearst Castle.

I have a vision of a San Luis Obispo that cherishes and protects with zeal its way of life; that has quashed the monster of urban sprawl; that will accept no tolerance for intolerance in order to end hate and violence; that has a passion for preserving its neighborhoods; that creates recreational opportunities for its youth; that respects and encourages the contributions of its senior citizens; that promotes community involvement by all of its citizens; that honors a commitment to preserve our natural environment; that encourages the use of alternate forms of transportation safely; that honors the Americanism resplendent in the tradition of the separation of church and state; that encourages and promotes the arts; the continues to improve community access for persons of all abilities; that promotes volunteerism; and that strives to protect its small businesses from domination by mega-industries headquartered elsewhere.
