Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Debbie Stevenson

Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Pleasant Valley Joint Union Elementary School District

I am very concerned that the children in our district receive a quality education. I think that they need to have the best teachers possible available to them, and in a small class setting. We have some excellent teachers at our school, but there is always room for improvement. Class sizes, especially in the upper grades need to be smaller, 24 to 26 students maximum. With the new state standards our teachers have some catch-up to do to bring the students up to the level the state now requires.

I am dedicated to improving the education our students receive by having small class sizes, and quality teachers who give quality education to all students in our school. Eventually, when our student population increases enough, I would like to see one grade level per classroom, instead of combined grade levels, as it is now.
