Candidate for
Councilmember; City of Pismo Beach

I have lived in Pismo Beach for the past 9 years and on the Central Coast for the past 14 years. I have been married to Jenifer for 3 years (my first wife passed away of Leukemia in 1984) and have begun a new family. I have two children from my previous marriage that live in the area. My daughter Shannon is an accountant working for Del Industries in San Luis Obispo and lives in Grover Beach. My Son Bill Jr. works for Key Pest Control and lives in Oceano. The newest addition to my family is Ian Rabenaldt born October 2, 1999 (my pride and joy).

As a vocational training school principal, I gained a unique insight into the family and the community. Personally, I do not believe that every child should or has the ability to attend college. That is why I chose a career in vocational education to lead this group of maturing adults to a fulfilling life in main stream America.

The business I have chosen to operate today is a reflection of that ambition. As the owner of Beach Cycle Rentals in Pismo Beach, I still interact with our youth and encourage them to be the best that they can.

One of my primary concerns in our community is the lack of meaningful activities for our youth. I am a tremendous supporter of our Parks and Recreation Commission (PBRC) and went to great lengths as a member of the City Council to see that necessary funds were distributed to their worthwhile efforts. I didn't have much success at that time but I will work even harder this time. A new staff employee has been hired in this department (the first full time position in many years) and I am hopeful that a concentration on activities for our youth will be at the top of any agenda.
