Leadership and Open Government

By Frank R. Mecham

Candidate for Mayor; City of Paso Robles

This information is provided by the candidate
It is the Mayor's responsibility to follow the will of the people, and the rules and laws that apply.
For the first time in our city's history the people will elect their Mayor. I believe the Mayor should keep the community well informed. The decisions and the direction of your elected City Council should be clearly articulated in a frequent and well-defined manner. The Mayor should be accessible and be willing to listen. Neither the Mayor, nor the Council, has the luxury to pick and choose their issues. It is the Mayor's responsibility to follow the will of the people, and the rules and laws that apply. I make that my commitment.

In order for the community to make informed decisions about city issues, they must be informed. It is imperative that information be provided on an on-going basis. When the community takes ownership in Council decisions, trust will return to city government. As your Mayor I will use whatever means available to reach out to the community--be it radio, newspapers or public meetings--in order to keep you informed on a consistent basis.
