My personal and professional qualifications
I have been a single dad for 10 years. I had the awesome privilege of raising my 3 sons alone. All 3 went through SL Coastal Unified schools. My youngest is a junior at SLOHS. I have served on 3 local non-profit board of directors: The Arthritis Foundation, The Heart Association, SLOCAP (San Luis Obispo Child Abuse Prevention Council). I have had a 24-year successful business career. I am a packaging engineer with Unisource Worldwide, a Georgia Pacific Company. I am also a corporate trainer at our regional service centers in California. I am a small business consultant and also do training seminars in marketing, strategic planning and sales management for local business. I have been actively involved in city and county politics for 8 years. I am aware of how some of these issues can impact out district and I know how to minimize those effects by working within the system and networking with other government agencies and leaders in the private sector. I have served as a trustee for another local school board in the mid 1980's. I have extensive experience in all areas of education and will "hit the ground running" on day one. No long learning curves and dependency on staff for information, guidance or interpretation of the issues before the board.
