I was educated in the public school system in Pennsylvania. I have a BA from Smith College. I was a credentialed teacher and I have been involved in education over a period of many years. As a classroom teacher, I taught middle school and high school (Social Studies, German, and Art Appreciation). I am very interested in curriculum issues.

I used my law degree primarily for education related activities. In the Fresno County Counsel's office, I represented over 30 school districts. I left that job and Fresno to teach law. For 6 years I taught law school graduates preparing for the bar exam. Sinse 1990 I have also worked for a law firm which specializes in education law.

Although I formally retired last year, I still provide counsel to Templeton Unified School District. In that capacity I have had the opportunity to work on many of the kinds of issues which school boards face. I know the nuts and bolts of serving on a school board.

I have a family: my husband, Ken (a retired judge) and my daughter Ally (a student at Laguna Middle School). We have taken advantage of some of the options in this district. We were happy that Teach Elementary was available because its focus on idependent learning was perfect for our family. We are all independent thinkers. As a family we love to debate the issues of the day.

My temperament is well suited to school board service. I like to advance my viewpoint and try to persuade others. As a lawyer this was my trade. I had to learn to lose and then go back and try again. I do not hold grudges when someone disagrees with me. I would try to decide every issue on its merits and not on the basis of personalities.

I want to serve. I think I will be a fair and knowledgeable board member.
