Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Norman P. "Norm" Weiss

Candidate for
City Council; City of Carlsbad

This information is provided by the candidate

I believe that Carlsbad is a wonderful place to live but can be better for all residents. While Carlsbad has improved in providing parks and recreational facilities, I believe that because of expanded growth in Carlsbad, we need to be assured that these facilities are more than adequate. The quality of life for all residents will improve if we develop park and recreational facilities that adequately support organized sports and all recreational activities from youth to seniors. These facilities provide youth in high-risk environments from entering the juvenile system. Provide a service delivery mechanism for youth, family and senior services. Provides natural resources. These facilities promote good health and disease prevention. Enhances the quality of life for all all ages.

I believe in smart development for Carlsbad, not over development. Development decisions should benefit the entire community.

Carlsbad has quality commercial and industrial businesses and we should continue to pursue these businesses. To recruit and maintain businesses in Carlsbad, businesses should be given tax incentives. The city should help them to get permits in much shorter period of time. Also, make sure that building inspections are done timely and a good professional labor force maintained.
