Position Papers
Introduction
In November, the voters of Oceanside have a choice; "Business as usual" or a "New Path". Do we continue to give our money as incentives to big business? Or do we spend that money and focus on Affordable Accessible Housing; Energy Self-Sufficiency; Relieve Traffic Congestion; programs for seniors and children; protection of our Ecological, Historical, and Cultural heritage? Do we focus on the elimination of discrimination in our city?
Residents are PRIORITY ONE.
Issues Statement
The City of Oceanside's greatest asset is it's people. The people are of all ages from babies to seniors, from all religions, from many ethnic heritages and from a variety of racial cultures. ALL people must be respected for their humanity and treated equally and justly. Such a city must have all the essential environmental elements to nurture the people, while preserving it's historical places, natural environment and it's diverse heritages and cultures.
Disabled Discrimination; "THE SOLID STEEL CEILING"
Attitudes are the outgrowth of myths, misconceptions and stereotypes. They affect our actions, decisions, our daily lives and thus they affect others and justice. The list of injustices and discrimination toward people with disabilities are legion and cover a very broad spectrum.
