Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Marcelo R. Rivera

Candidate for
Board Member; Palomar Pomerado Health System

This information is provided by the candidate

My political philosophy is simple and straight forward. I am elected to represent all the people of the community. Once elected I must be able to blend my personal goals, wishes and dreams with what I hear and perceive from the people I have been elected to SERVE. I WORK FOR YOU.

My attributes for the position are honesty and dedication. I know how to listen and I know how to think. By putting these two qualities together, I can put together ideas and work cooperatively with the community and the other Board Members to reach common ground. My background in Medicine has given me the experience to compartmentalize and serve effectively. Providing care to my patients gives me a perspective which will make me an effective Board Member.

I do not feel the need to use my elected position to define myself. Who I am can be deduced by looking at my family and my committment to them. The love of my wife and my children keeps me whole and grounded. When I wake up in the morning it is not enough to be able to face myself in the mirror, but I must also feel good looking into the eyes of my family and know that I am still grounded and going in the right direction. Whenever I start to depart from this direction I can count on my wife and kids to "bring me back to reality." In the words of Herman Hesse, I have learned to "flow like the river."
