How can we ensure quality education for all?

By Kelli M. Moors

Candidate for Board Member; Carlsbad Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate
We must be prepared to offer programs that meet the needs of a wide variety of abilities and talents.
Our society is made up of artists and scientists, laborers and technicians, homemakers and volunteers. Our student population is the younger end of this spectrum, and is comprised of children with various interests and learning styles.

Our challenge as a school system is to find a way to "grab" each of those students, to find a way to both teach them and inspire them continue learning on their own. Offering them a rich mix of fact-filled lessons, hands-on learning, individual assignments, grouped experiences, along with arts and athletics gives them the best chance to immerse themselves in knowledge.

"Developing lifelong learners" is one of the goals in our district mission statement. To achieve this we must be willing to challenge our teachers, staff, adminstrators and parents to set goals as high as those we have set for our students. Together we can ensure maximum achievement for all our students.
