BIOGRAPHY

Brian Maienschein will provide a strong voice at San Diego City Hall for greater accountability to taxpayers, better planning to meet transportation and other infrastructure needs, and a new focus on youth and juvenile crime prevention.

Brian is active in school and youth programs, including participation on the Poway Unified School District's Safety and Wellness Committee and the San Diego County Bar Association's Children at Risk Committee. Brian serves as Executive Director of Youth Court, an innovative program that has forged a partnership between law enforcement, schools and community groups to get first-time juvenile offenders back on track. For his work with this program, Brian received the 1999 District Attorney's Crime Victims Rights Award.

An attorney who works with small business owners and high-tech companies, Brian understands the impact of taxes and regulations on growing businesses, and the importance of these businesses to the future health of San Diego's economy.

As a resident who commutes daily on I-15, Brian is concerned with land use and transportation planning to reduce traffic congestion and protect our quality of life. He will always put the interests of district residents first.

As a graduate of Chaparral Elementary School, Twin Peaks Middle School and Poway High School, Brian is familiar with the unique character and concerns of our community.

Brian's wife, Janna, is a special education teacher at Rancho Bernardo High School and also is a member of the Scripps Ranch Children's Hospital Auxiliary.
