This information is provided by the candidate

I was born and raised in San Diego and have been a North County resident since 1959. My wife Barbara and I purchased a Fallbrook grove four years ago, built a retirement home last year and moved to Fallbrook after living in Vista for over 26 year. We have two sons and two grandchildren.

After graduating from San Diego State College with a BS degree in Business Management, I entered the US Air Force in July of 1963. Upon leaving the Air Force I returned to North County where I found employment with the County of San Diego.

I retired from the County this spring after 27 ½ years of service. For 26 of those years, I was the Budget Officer for the County Department of Social Services and later the County Health and Human Services Agency. My responsibilities included preparing, monitoring and managing annual budgets of approximately $1 billion, conducted specialized studies and supervising a staff of 12 finance professionals. I worked in the County's Office of Financial Planning, for the last year and a half prior to my retirement, as a Financial Planning and Policy Officer. My duties included producing the County's annual Financial Plan, evaluated revenue projections, and implement and administered a new countywide automated budgeting system.

I enjoy gardening, horseback riding and work as a volunteer at Rancho Cuyamaca State Park. I am also active with the Fallbrook Land Conservancy Trails Committee and a volunteer docent at the San Diego State University Santa Margarita Ecological Preserve.
