Police and Fire services are declining in Chula Vista

By Mike Diaz

Candidate for City Council; City of Chula Vista; Seat 3

This information is provided by the candidate
Mike Diaz is endorsed by the Chula Vista Firefighters because of his committment to good public safety services. We can not allow crime to go unabated, a strong police and fire fighting force is essential to the safety and well-being of the community.
Mike Diaz Understands Public Safety.

Why is this important?

The City is considering a recommendation to increase the time it takes for police and firefighters to respond to emergencies.

In 1987, the city created a Growth Management Oversight Commission. The commission studied eleven quality of life elements. They set a base line for services to determine whether growth in the city negatively affected city services. In their April, 2000 report, the commission found that only two of the eleven quality of life elements dropped below the 1988 threshold - police and fire safety services.

Neither police nor fire is meeting even the 1988 threshold.

Instead of working with public safety professionals to reduce response times, the commission is recommending that the City make you wait longer for police and fire units to respond to your emergencies.

I will fight hard to ensure that both police and fire units continue to respond quickly. That is why I am strongly endorsed by public safety agencies.

In his eight years on the City Council, my opponent did nothing to ensure your family's safety.

I promise to keep you and your family safe!
