I want to be a Superior Court Judge because I care about human beings. Santa Clara County needs experienced, ethical, hardworking judges who can make difficult decisions with honesty, integrity and a profound sense of fairness. There is no incumbent running for Seat #2 and I am endorsed by the San Jose Mercury News as "clearly the better candidate for the bench" because of my broad experience.

I have dedicated my career to the improvement of the community in which I live and the legal system in which I work. Before I became an attorney, I was a charter member of the Save El Toro Association, a grassroots organization, that successfully campaigned to save the landmark El Toro Mountain in Morgan Hill. I later became the first woman chairperson of the Morgan Hill Planning Commission.

In law school at Santa Clara University, I was President of the Public Interest Law Foundation, Editorial Editor of the law school newspaper and recipient of a Community Service Award for "exceptional service in advancing the best interest of the law school community."

As a government attorney, I am respected for my ability to solve problems. I have worked to help streamline the legal system and to insure that justice is served in the process. As a member of the Mental Jail Diversion Committee, I have worked hard to see that the mentally ill are treated fairly. I am also deeply involved in the rehabilitation of nonviolent drug offenders. These efforts have saved the County money and improved the lives of many Santa Clara County residents.

This broad base of experience with Santa Clara County's criminal justice system has given me a "big picture" view of how the system operates when confronted with problems such as jail overcrowding, mentally ill defendants, and a backlog of felony cases awaiting trial. I have participated in the process of solving these problems and will bring this knowledge and experience to the bench.
