Carole L. Wagener cares I am running for Santa Maria Bonita School District Board member position because I believe parents should have more options in the education of their children and should have the right to choose the best form of education for their child to be successful in the learning process. I am seeking "grassroots" support and an not seeking endorsement of any special interest groups who have their own agenda.

Residency I have lived here 18 years. Four of my children have attended government schools, and all have had their best years in private schools or home school.

Concerns I have seem some improvement with class room size reduction in k-3, but there are some disturbing trends in the public government operated schools.

With the implementation of two new privately funded High Schools, one near Suey, a great burden of over crowding in Santa Maria High School & Righetti will be substantially reduce. The correct implementation of Prop 38 Voucher 2000 will so EMPOWER PARENTS to send their child to any Private or Public school as to cause real competition in the education process to the benefit of all students.

Less crowded Public schools will have more resources to help their students and few students to help. Competition between all Schools will drive up Teacher Salaries somewhat, since more teachers will be needed, but the end result will be worth it, and if the teachers are free to TEACH instead of maintain good behavior, paying the teachers more will certainly be worth it.

I would also support a truely independant CHARTER school.

And it is interesting to note that fear tactics were used to try and stop Vouchers in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, but Atty. Clint Bolick, of the Institute for Justice, won the court decision. And public schools have actually benefited while parents are happier having more freedom to chose the private or public school of THEIR choice, not the public school administrators.

I FULLY SUPPORT PROP 38. It will be a blessing that will outshine all the lies being spread about it, and in 10 years even the NEA will have to admit it IS a great advantage to ALL children.
