We, the People of Santa Barbara,

in order to form a more perfect community,

to establish the rights and responsibilities of parents and children so that we may learn and grow together,

create an educational system that nurtures and engages our children's minds, bodies, and spirits, and empowers parents to collaborate, coordinate, and cooperate as educational partners,

provide for the common defense and advocacy of sane practices and democratic policies that support family values, promote domestic harmony, and insure social justice,

and reweave the fabric of our society and thereby secure the blessings of love and well-being for ourselves, our children, and our children's children,

do hereby encharter Families For, and pledge to make a difference not only for our own children, but for the generation to which our children belong.
