Over the last four years, as an elected School Board member and officer, I have been a key player on the TUSD team that assumed educational leadership and initiated many positive changes. TUSD has made remarkable progress. Focusing on basic skills, emphasizing explicit phonics, and raising standards doubtless contributed to our significant increases in Stanford 9 test scores. Our primary grades have achieved double digit increases over the last two years. Test scores increased in all areas and all grades except 11th, which was flat. These results exceed state and county averages.

I've also enclosed a list of my goals for TUSD for the next four years, which include maintaining our focus on student achievement, assuring our students pass the high school exit exam, finding a way to finance building renovations, finishing new school construction, planning for the Tustin Marine Base, and addressing the complex needs of our students in the fast paced, technology-driven 21st century economy.

Please let me know if there are additional issues that are important to you. I value different perspectives.

I am proud to stand on my record. I know that I have brought to the TUSD Board the critical eyes of someone with 25 years of business experience, the commitment of a 17 -year resident and community participant, and the hands-on experience of a parent with three children in TUSD schools. I would be privileged to continue serving Tustin to the best of my ability for the next four years.
