Thanks for checking me out.

As a seasoned water resources technical professional I am willing to participate in making our important decisions regarding the quality of our water and water supplies. Often you will find retirees from a wide range of professions get elected to water boards. They may be lucky to have some good leaders on the board or on the staff to work for us. I have been a leader in several local technical professional organizations (see resume). I am now interested in helping lead our County and State on water issues.

Southern California is facing reductions in imported surface water supplies from the Colorado River and the State Water Project Bay-Delta area. No doubt about it.

There are numerous offers to sell us water from a wide-variety of places. Some of them are totally outrageous. Some of them may make great sense, but maybe not quite yet. These offers will continue to become increasingly more complex and confusing. I think I can keep the Municipal Water District of Orange County on track by helping to better prioritize where efforts should be made and reject efforts that are a waste of our time & money.

I am presently an elected-director on the board of the Orange County Water District (OCWD). The area I represent includes all of Costa Mesa and parts of Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley, Westminster, Tustin, Irvine and Newport Beach. Elected in 1998, I ran because I was angry and thought I could make positive changes. I know I have.

One of the philosophical concepts I remind myself of frequently is that "We are all trying to update our brain." This concept refers to the fact that our brains are always collecting information and reaching conclusions based on this information. It is hard to keep up with new information that may change our conclusions to new ones. I don't think this means "conservatism" or "liberalism" are basically flawed, but that we as a society have to be smart in living in our environment. Keeping your education active so you can keep your brain updated is a basic goal of living. It is probably why I usually have a big smile on my face. I am a happy person and hope I radiate that joy to others.

I know I can make many positive changes for the Municipal Water District of Orange County. Give me a chance and give me your vote!

Thanks, Kelly

If you want to know more about me my full resume is located at http://home.ix.netcom.com/~krowe.

In summary, I am a journeyman hydrogeologist. I have a long career of working on a wide variety of water resources projects throughout the western U.S., but mainly in Southern California. As a result I have had a rich experience and education on water resources problems and their solutions. I have met most of the important water-resources professionals in Southern California. This network of friends and acquaintenances have been valuable to me in understanding "The Big Picture"...how Orange County can get the best quality water at a cost to our advantage. It is a challenge & great fun!

As a skilled water resources technical professional I have saved my clients many millions of dollars. I enjoy meeting people, studying water resources in different places, and diligently read my various technical journals. It makes sense to keep your mind open to ideas that can help you understand and solve a problem.

In closing, you can trust me to keep an objective and scientific view of our water issues. You can also trust me as your representative to be respectful and friendly with each one I meet.

Regards, Kelly
