Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Tammie Bullard

Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Tustin Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate

It's been nearly four years since I was elected to serve on the Tustin Unified School District Board of Education. I was entrusted with leadership and vision to implement policy, programs, and changes that would ensure all students are provided with a high quality education. Some accomplishments include:

  • Adoption of rigorous academic standards resulting in increased test scores above the state and national averages

  • Renewed focus on phonics instruction

  • Establishing the first middle school science and math magnet

  • Implementing a second elementary school of choice

  • Adoption of sound fiscal policy resulting in new schools and capital improvements while maintaining a healthy reserve

  • Timely opening of new schools

These improvements that were made during my term have not only benefited the students in our district, but have bolstered the value of our community and have furthered the reputation of our schools as outstanding schools in our state. I have worked hard along with parents, community members and staff to ensure the success of all students, retain local control, mandate accountability, and implement responsible fiscal policy, thus fulfilling my campaign pledges I made four years ago.

I have had the opportunity to serve as President of the Board and as the Board's Representative on the High School Planning Committee, Special Education Community Advisory Committee, and Strategic Planning Committee. I have recently been elected by fellow Board Members in Orange County to serve on the Delegate Assembly for the California School Boards Association, a state level position that allows our district and Orange County to take an active roll in shaping educational policy in our state.

I have the experience, proven dedication, and demonstrated leadership ability to ensure our schools promote academic excellence and add value to our great community.

I hope you will consider the substantial improvements made in our district, my voting record, and my commitment to improving student achievement and support my re-election to Tustin Unified School District Board of Education.
