Attracting and retaining the best teachers and administrators

By Joe Leber, Jr.

Candidate for Governing Board Member; Pittsburg Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate
With respect and pay we can retain and attract the best teachers and administrators.
As you view education as a whole, you can see the teachers as the foundation and the curriculum as the building. You must first build a strong foundation. No matter how strong the building is, it will crumble without a strong foundation. We have too many teachers leaving. We need to get some consistency. Keep the teachers we have and draw in new teachers with better pay. Eventually we will be able to keep and maintain a high quality of teachers for our students. If we have any extra money in the budget, we should pay the teachers. This enables us to compete with other school districts in retaining and attracting better teachers and administrators.
