Candidate for
Director; Mount Diablo Health Care District

This information is provided by the candidate

A Bay Area native, I graduated from the the U. of Oregon in Eugene in 1965. I became a dentist by attending Howard University in Washington D.C. My internship was at the Veterans Hospital (now clinic) in Martinez.

I have worked in varied health delivery environments. For five years I worked for Contra Costa County in both East and West County Clinics. Then I was Director of an inner city clinic, and in the same period was clinical professor for University of Pacific (SF). Next was a remarkable year in the UN refugee camps for the Vietnamese "Boatpeople". As Dental Officer I saw Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.

For the past 18 years, I have had my own practice, and concurrently worked 5 years with the State Dental Board as an "Expert Examiner" in the licensing of new California dentists. More recently I've served as consultant and expert witness for the State Board in legal actions.

I have been an employee and an employer. I understand the demands on providers as well as the struggle to balance fiscal realities. Mt.Diablo District responsibities require no less.

My wife is employed with a local school district as a resource specialist. Our two boys are the center of my universe and as they approach college age, this opportunity is timely.

As a neighbor who is ready, willing and able to serve, I ask for your vote.
