Statement From the Candidate

By Ron Matthews

Candidate for For Member, City Council; City of Alameda

This information is provided by the candidate
Alameda must go into the 21st century not only with defined goals, but with leadership that knows how to attain them. I sense that there is consensus in our Community that something or someone is missing in our leadership. What has been missing in our leadership is a business-like teamwork approach. Who has been missing is a no-nonsense, strong business leader who can unify the goals of the Council so that they work together.

The goal of the City should be to develop and re-develop in such a way that we maintain the peaceful residential character that makes us unique. This means attracting businesses that complement our character and assuring that the businesses don't overwhelm us in terms of traffic, congestion, and noise. It means planning parks, schools, and libraries that will help build our character. It means taking care of the needs of the younger and the older, because that is what a family does.

I am a family man and a businessman. I am a man of strong character and bold resolve. Elect me, and I promise to fight for our Alameda character.
