Insurance coverage and the lack of it.

By Eduardo Kneler

Candidate for Member, Board of Hospital Directors; Washington Township Health Care District

Economic factors in the delivery of health care.
In the 22 years that I have practiced in Fremont, our population has experienced en economic rollercoster. The bonanza was preceded by a moderately severe recession, in which a number of my patients lost their insurance coverage. I felt the need to help, and have talked in innumerable occasions with labs and the Hospital to accomodate those circumstances in which patients cannot possible pay the regular rates and need financial help to meet their obligations. I am particularly sensitive to those needs and want to make sure that, were the economic conditions to change, we will continue to work with our patients so they will get the care they need overcoming economic barriers. We are a community -sponsored Hospital, and being non-profit allows us to reinvest our income in more services, better equipment and an up-to-date physical plant. Our mission, is to determine the needs ot the population we serve, and make sure we we fulfill that need.
