Candidate for
Judge of the Superior Court; Office 23

This information is provided by the candidate

My name is Mark A. Kliszewski and I am currently running for Judge of the Superior Court in Alameda County and seeking the support of persons like you who want to make sure that there are qualified, fair and honest people on the bench.

I have been a Superior Court Commissioner, presiding either in Juvenile or Civil court, for over 12 years. I have tried over 3000 cases to judgment, heard many more motions and pre-trials, and been involved with even more miscellaneous court matters. Just about every young person who has been in trouble in Alameda County north of the San Leandro-Oakland border in these years has appeared before me. I also make the tough decisions as to whether kids who have been neglected or abused in their homes should remain with their parents

I worked for a civil law firm in Oakland in the early 70s, then moved on to run my own very successful general practice in San Leandro until 1989. I was appointed by the judges of the bench as a Juvenile Court Referee and have since dealt with many of the troubled youths who have appeared in the Oakland Juvenile Court.

In addition to my work on the bench, I have been a longtime volunteer in this community. Over the last 20 years, I have coached high school freshman football, varsity 8th grade middle school boys basketball, and Pony level baseball. I have been selected volunteer of the year, and won the Service to Youth Award from the Boy Scouts.

I came to the Bay Area in 1966 to attend Santa Clara University in 1966. After college I went to Hastings College of Law and received my degree in 1973. In my law practice I represented people who needed help after having accidents, needing business advice or having medical or marital problems. I was also greatly involved in working with families and the many children who often came to my office for advice.

I have been married 30 years and have three adult children who all are public school graduates and attend(ed) prestigious universities.

Please vote for me on November 7, 2000.
