My name is Peggy Herndon. I have been a resident of Fremont for fifteen years. I am married and have raised both of our children in Fremont. My oldest son graduated from Irvington High School in 1999. My younger son is thirteen and currently attends Horner Junior High. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Child Development and taught preschool for a number of years. I am currently an independent controller for several Bay Area businesses. I feel my unique background in both education and finance will assist me in making financially sound decisions, which have our children's best interest in mind. I not only understand budgets and the numbers that one has to deal with as a board member, but I also see the faces that those numbers represent whether they be the children or the employee groups.

I have been involved with the Fremont school system for the fifteen years that I have lived here. I worked in the classroom on a regular basis when my children were younger. I coordinated the FAME (Fine Arts Mini-Experience) program at the elementary level and served as a docent for ten years. I have served on the site council and PTA's of four schools. I am currently PTSA Vice-President at Horner Junior High. I am a past PTA President, Treasurer, Auditor, and Parliamentarian. I have served on numerous district committees including the Community Facilities Committee. I am currently secretary for the Surplus Property Committee. I have also served on many Administrator selection committees. During the recent boundary debates, I acted as a chair person and liaison between members of our community and several Board members.

Besides my involvement in the schools, I am very active in community groups. I belong to the American Business Women's Association, Pathfinder Chapter. It is the oldest chapter in Fremont and was chartered in 1964. I have served as Vice-President and Treasurer in my ten years of membership as well as education chair. I am currently on the Executive Board of the Warm Springs Aquatics, a local swim team composed of children from the ages of five through eighteen. I have also served on the East Bay Swim League Board of Directors, which represents twelve swim teams from Fremont to San Leandro.
