Transportation Planning & Inter-Agency Cooperation

Greg Wilkens will combine tested methods with the new technology and analysis to improve transportation planning.
Through encouraging inter-agency cooperation and planning, projects will become more cost-effective. This cooperation also ensures that new projects better reflect both local and regional concerns and interests.

The Engineer's Office should become a true resource and partner for cities, townships, villages and other agencies and officials on issues including land use planning and storm water management.

Priorities:

  • Keep County Thoroughfare Plan current.

  • Engage best, new technology and analysis to improve transportation planning.

  • Employ traffic accident analysis to identify, examine and improve dangerous intersections and roadways.

  • Facilitate inter-agency cooperation--allowing the office to be a true asset and partner for cities, townships, villages and other agencies.

  • Encourage cooperative transportation planning with cities, townships and villages.

  • Place priority on coordination with County land use interests. Collaborate with Land Use Committee. Ensure that roads fit land use plans.

  • Work with the County to develop storm water management system to prevent flooding and plan for future development on a regional basis.
