I'm running for Congress because I believe that federal government has grown too big & is trying to exercise too much control over our lives. The 3 issues that form the foundation of my political platform are:
1. Cut taxes. I propose abolishing the Internal Revenue Service and replacing the federal income tax with a national sales tax of 18%. The sales tax would be reduced 1% point per year. After 18 years the sales tax would be fazed out. The government must be forced to cut spending or they will keep increasing the amount of taxes they collect from us.
2. Medicinalize Marijuana. 8 states, including California, have passed medical marijuana laws. The federal government has refused to recognize those laws and continues to prosecute people who use marijuana even though their doctors have said it could help keep them alive. I want the federal government to change the classification of marijuana so doctors can legally prescribe it for their patients.
3. Protect Social Security. When the federal government needs extra money they have been borrowing from Social Security. They say they will pay back the money sometime in the future. I am worried that when I and the rest of the people my age are ready to retire there won't be enough money for us. I will work for a law separating Social Security funds from the rest of the federal budget.
