Candidate Paul Six has contributed his services to community, church, profession and education:

I have been a homeowner in San Mateo county for 26 years. Working in the community, I volunteered as the White Cane chairman for the Lions Club of Foster City. In the church, I read as a lector for Saint Lukes church for the past twenty years. In my profession, I have acted as chairman of IEEE PACE (Professional Action Committee of Engineers) of Santa Clara section and San Francisco section. In Santa Clara's PACE group we also organized workshops for engineers. I have worked closely with educators to ensure a brighter tomorrow for our children. One example of my focus on math and science was when I volunteered as a judge for the Santa Clara Valley science faire.

In Foster City a concerned citizen group discovered a city council plan to build a new 3 story building in Ryan Park. We organized several signature collection groups and managed to force the city council to withdraw their new building plans. I realized that the city council was not in tune with the needs of the citizens. That 4th of July, I took a survey of the citizens asking them to prioritized which was more important: a new high school,a new library or a new city hall. The survey was published in the local paper and set the priorities of the people of Foster City. Citizens chose the library as their first choice. Today I am filled with pride of every time I visit to the new library not just because of it's design, but because it represents the power of the united citizens.

I decided to run for the city council armed with updated surveys and the knowledge that people do make a difference, one person at a time.
