Social Security and Medicare

By Thomas Roy "Tom" Harney

Candidate for United States Representative; District 44

Social Security Needs to Be Preserved and Medicare Needs to Be Improved
I believe that Social Security is one of the most important pieces of legislation that was ever enacted in America. It needs to be kept as solid as a rock. I do not believe that Social Security funds should ever be invested in the stock market. Social Security funds were never intended to take the wild, roller coaster ride of wins and losses in the stock market. Medicare has some real problems. It is very difficult for both the patient and the care giver. If elected, I would work toward improving Medicare so that it is more user-friendly for both the patient and the caregiver. I can relate to both Social Security and Medicare because I am a recipient of both. So many in Congress are not recipients of either Social Security or Medicare; and, thus they just don't relate to either system. If elected, I would work to preserve Social Security and improve Medicare.
