Hello, my name is Bob Evans.

I ran against Congressman Tom Lantos in 1998 as the Republican Challenger, and achieved over 36,000 votes in the general election ... almost 22% of the vote! Hell, I beat him in his hometown of Hillsborough by almost 200 votes! And now I'm back ... You see, I gave my word to a lot of people that I would return to run again if I lost in 1998 ... I have kept my word!

So, why in the world would anyone try for a second time to run against Tom Lantos? ... Because I gave my word to a lot of people who signed my petitions that I would not be like the "other" Republican's over the 18 years, that I would "actually" run for the office. And if it takes another try, I'll be back again ... That is a promise!

Now, I was born and raised in San Francisco, and I went through the Public School System ... I don't need to tell you our Schools are in bad shape ... you know it! We have gone well past the crossroad and are near the brink or past it in a few of our School Districts!

First thing should be the elimination of the Department of Education in Washington D.C. The control of our local schools and the tax money sent to D.C. must be returned to the local communities and the state.

Second, our Teachers are fed-up with having to buy Classroom Supplies out of their own pocket ... (and a few other problems)... Would you buy work supplies out of your pocket? ... Hell no! ... Then why should they?

Our Teachers deserve a Pay Raise, but I feel there should be some consideration of implementing some form of "Merit Pay" system as a reward to the Teachers that have an outstanding record in Teaching.

This is what I'll do once elected ... I will throw the weight of my office behind the Teacher's and the Schools!

I will work with them to get badly needed help in the Classrooms ... 1 Teacher for every 30 + students just will not cut it. But 1 Teacher + 1 or more qualified assistants will go a long way in improving Classroom performance.

I will work with the Teachers to coordinate fund raiser's that will support "their" School, with the money raised going to "their" School, no where else.

I will also work with them to acquire needed Classroom equipment.

How will I be able to do just some of the things I am saying? ... I plan to return to the District on a weekly basis (out of my own pocket if I have to) to take care of things at home and to take care of matters in the District.

One of my goals is to see education-improved District wide, then I will move on to Nation wide improvements.
